BBC Local Radio Board / NATIONAL news bulletins on LOCAL stations!
« on: January 17, 2016, 10:13:49 PM »
It is not long since all BBC local stations started to take a national bulletin every hour after 7pm on weekday evenings. Now national bulletins are being used in the evening at weekends too. There are some excellent music shows on the regional outputs at weekends. Now they are having to lose time just to take national news. It seems ridiculous! Who wants this on a local station at 10pm on a Sunday evening for example. You could go to so many of the national stations if you really wanted it.

BBC Local Radio Board / BBC Radio Leicester sack Alan Young
« on: July 14, 2014, 11:04:17 AM »
BBC Radio Leicester have sacked popular football commentator Alan Young. A bizarre statement said that he had been sacked despite an 'excellent performance and contribution' on the station. This has left many Leicester City fans and Radio Leicester listeners bewildered as to what has gone on with many asking for a fuller statement.

Should this remain a private matter between Young and the station or are the listeners entitled to more details on what has happened?

BBC Local Radio Board / Colin Bloomfield BBC Radio Derby
« on: May 20, 2014, 10:38:55 PM »
It has been revealed that BBC Radio Derby breakfast presenter Colin Bloomfield  has skin cancer. Stand-in presenter Ian Skye spoke to him this morning in an emotional interview. Colin has also lost his father this week.
Derby County fans will give Colin a minutes applause during their match at Wembley on Saturday.
I am sure all contributors to this forum would like to join me in wishing Colin and his family all the best during such a difficult time.

BBC Local Radio Board / BBC Local Radio jingles
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:42:05 PM »
It would be nice to get some opinions on the generic Mcasso jingles. I realise that one set of jingles is being used for all stations because of the budget cuts. It is a shame that each station has lost its own individuality though.
I suppose if you only listen to one station you would not realise that the jingles are being used across the country. Also some people don't take any notice of the jingles and just listen for presenters/content. However for those who flick around and keep hearing the same thing over and over again it is quite tiresome. Also many stations did use sung jingles and are now forced into using these instrumentals that i would describe as boring.

There's a strange new gardening show on Sunday morning. Plenty of music/chat but no gardening tips. Anybody else heard it?
