If you missed this afternoon's Radio 4 drama based on Sophie's trial including Sylvia's interview please take time to listen by following the link ..it is the follow up to Black Roses and you will find it profound and powerful http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03wpc05

At the time of the original broadcast many were moved, indeed Albert described his reaction  which was mine too, it is difficult not to cry,and Mel linked us to the facebook page , which is still going strong.

As she said at the time.

"If your interested " Sophie Lancaster" has a Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/thesophielancasterfoundation

It was set up to combat hatred and intolerance against others.

And "YES" BBC radio drama can take you to another place, unlike drama on TV it can really move you."

There is no question that this will.

Here is the original Black Roses: The Killing of Sophie Lancaster.

Hello there peoples ^^ I'm Rose.

I still have my download of the original 'black roses' and I've made a habit of listening to it a couple of times a year. The events surrounding the death of Sophie Lancaster touched me very deeply and I thought the poetry by Simon Armitage was brilliant.

I was heartbroken to find that I'd completely missed this new play! I was even too late to download the podcast. I emailed the BBC to ask if there was any way I could obtain a copy but they said there was nothing they could do for me - it isnt commercially available so I couldnt even buy a copy.

I'm here because I'm really desperate to hear this new play, does anyone have a copy they could share with me?

Any help would be so appreciated.

Thanks

Rose xo

Hello Rose, welcome along.  I'd love to say I could help but I'm afraid I don't have a copy, although I'm keeping an eye out for any repeats.  It's possible the http://www.sophielancasterfoundation.com/ may have a copy, you could perhaps try contacting them?  Having just found them, I think I'm going to get myself a t-shirt to help support the charity!

Hi Rose,

Have you had any luck?

If not I hope that we can take this further, it will be  in a BBC archive.

And should be made available.

Will do my best to find out where it is.

Tamsin x

Hello there! I'm afraid not :( I did email the BBC but they simply told me it wasn't available - I've written to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation as well but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I wouldn't know how to go about accessing the BBC archive, thank you so much for all your help x Rose

Will try and find out where this recording is. Life is short and there is no reason why this recording that is funded by the public should not be available to listen to. It is in the public interest, but more than that it is in Sophie's interest.

Will do my best, Rose X

In the odd way that they do these things, it seems the original play was for sale.

http://www.hive.co.uk/ebook/black-roses-the-killing-of-sophie-lancaster-bbc-radio-4-afternoon-play/12162053/

But Audio Go are defunct and Random House now seem to have control of their BBC catalogue - although I can find neither of the Sophie plays on their website.  Such a pity.

Hi Rose, that is great news.

I will try and get confirmation that the program is going to be repeated next month and when. X

Hi Rose, I checked the next couple of weeks of the schedule and couldn't see it, so here's hoping it appears at the end of the month, if I see anything I'll post it up.

:( Hello again everyone! I really hope you aren't all sick of me - but I thought it might be worth one last ditch chance at breathing some life into this thread, in the hopes that someone somewhere has a copy of this podcast x I've been in touch with the BBC again but I've just hit a brick wall, and I cant find Porcelain anywhere online.

If you have this podcast and are willing drop it in dropbox or email me a copy I will appreciate it greatly x I could then go on to make it available to others as well, I feel it should be shared x
