Public Consultation Meetings..BBC Local Radio
« on: June 02, 2011, 04:09:19 PM »
There are to be a number of public meetings about the importance of BBC local radio. We are aware of these.

"This year the BBC Trust is looking at BBC Local Radio across England. As part of this consultation the BBC's Regional Audience Council in the South is holding an outreach event at BBC Broadcasting House, Havelock Road, Southampton on Monday, 13 June starting at 2.30pm (finishing at 4.30pm) There will be a light buffet, and we cover reasonable travelling expenses.

The Audience Council members want to hear what you think about the Local Radio Service - BBC Radio Solent - what you value, why you listen, are there particular programmes that stand out, does it reflect your community etc.

If you would like to attend please let me know by phone: 023 80374216. If you know of others who listen to the station and would like to come along, please pass on this information or ask them to contact me.

Frances Bryant."

Well I shall certainly look forward to a report from Ruby about the one at BBC Solent.  Would be great to hear from anyone else who attends any of these.

Further meetings are available-ish:

EAST

The BBC Audience Council England, part of the BBC Trust, is holding some public consultation meetings this month to find out what licence fee payers think about BBC Local Radio. Most of the events are fully booked but there are still a few places left for an event in Northampton for listeners to BBC Three Counties, Radio Northampton and Radio Cambridgeshire;

and one in Bury St Edmunds for listeners to Radios Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

Enquiries to audiencecouncil.england@bbc.co.uk

Thankyou, for this information  from one of our members.

There are still areas that will have consultations and we are unaware of those?

Not very good publicity here from the Trust? These meetings should be advertised on local station broadcasts.
