Lot of BBCWhiteMansGuilt in shows
« on: March 18, 2016, 09:32:51 AM »
This last 2 weeks I have counted about 6 items in BBC radio science/history shows of #BBCWhiteMansGuilt in shows
ie agonising over less women or BME in CERTAIN professions/hobbies than in the general population.

Fine consider the issue, but  not boring handringing, do it with proper analysis and numbers that we can test and challenge.
The simplistic kneejerk explanation is usually oh they don't see "people like me"

I think that's too simplistic
Model railway clubs probably don't have many female members ..I would have thought people don't join cos they are not interested in Model railways ..not really cos of other people in the group

#2 You can't get up to 50/50 in one profession unless you reduce the 10/90 issue in other professions
Women totally dominate the caring professions like primary school teachers
: nurses
: elderly care
: NHS workers in general
: beauty/fashion industry etc

..Those are just first ideas not a full analysis I say i expect the BBC to do that istead of the limpdata and handwringing we get.

The progs
(1) Making History
Dwelt for half the show , on there being few Afro Carib History academics

(2) BBCrWS Magicians: The Why Factor
"Oh shame only 15% of youths at a Young Magic meetup were FEMALE"
They dwelt on this using the FEMALE magician Fay Presto mention was made that she was born a MAN

(3) The Media Show
Last week they once again dwelt on BME representation in the media

(4) Adam Gopnik on A Point of View
1980's "I am just being a bit politically correct was used by women to point out sexist behaviour."
(really Adam ? I've never heard anyone say that)
Now in 2016 "I am not going to be politically correct is always said by men"

(5) Last Week on bbcFFeedback there was a 5 min preview slot for lefty comedian MaeMartin she winged about straight society oppressing bi/gay
- The week before they also had a long item on BME representation in the media

Many of those BBC staff driving whitemansguilt operations probably have actual guilt in getting their own family and friends BBC jobs #nepotism.
