How long before an Afternoon Play is repeated?
« on: April 05, 2016, 01:29:52 PM »
This afternoon's is just over a year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03zb4b4

I suppose the demographic of BBC Radio4 Afternoon Drama listeners are perceived by the BBC to be daft and senile. I hold my own hands up, and true, I can't remember what I had for breakfast or indeed what it was I fired up the computer to do.

But I can remember the Afternoon Dramas.

Some are well worth repeating some are not. I'm not particular about this one, but I still feel repeating it after 4 days and 1 year is too soon.

Is there a shortage of dramas to broadcast?

Edited to add:

Oops, it is actually 2 years and 4 days. The point still stands though.

15th April 2016: Beyond Endurance

First Broadcast 8th April 2015.

There may be good reason to re-broadcast this around the anniversary of the voyage, but whatever, a year is too soon. Anyway, I shall enjoy listening. Again.

First Broadcast: Thu 14 Sep 2017
Less than 5 months ago.

Well there's one thing about repeating a drama so soon after first broadcast, at least I can remember this one enough to know to tune straight into BBC Radio 2 Steve Wright in the Afternoon at 14:15.

I may even go local radio or go down the shops.

It begs the question again: what criteria does the BBC use as to when to re-broadcast a drama? Whatever it may be - topicality, convenience, writer/actor needs a bit more exposure/cash, or whatever...I would be interested to know.

Any suggestions?
