It is intolerable that news is cut at the same time as millions are being spent on popular broadcasting. I would say that Helen Boeden is now out of the race for the next DG. If the BBC means anything, it means absolutely defending journalism.

If savings HAVE to be made, then the BBC MUST cut the crippling management costs. They have GOT to take into account independent reports , such as John Myers. They have to do that first, and be transparent about it, before they cut services, journalism, and BBC local radio. Patience is running out.

Oh here are the cuts..

And I would say that it is political posturing and putting pressure on The Trust. We all know that if the BBC HAD BEEN MANAGED PROPERLY, there would be absolutely no need for this cut in news. It is disgusting.

It's intensely worrying, on the one hand they do great things like Panaroma, the recently started Wikileaks series, the Adam Curtis documentaries, The Report etc. and then on the other the NHS coverage has been limp and they are cancelling Beyond Westminster and Patten has stated in the past that it would be wrong for them to have involved themselves with the expenses scandal.  Ever since the September Dossier it seems the Beeb have decided it is not their place to get too involved, when in my humble mind their attitude should be one of 'if not us, then who?'
