I have to say this is almost compulsory listening , certainly at the moment. I heard it all, and would have to say that Auntie on her 90th birthday deserves a glass of fizz!..and was wonderful to see the top skin of Michael Portillo stripped away to reveal a devil(oops meant to say advocate..but will let others make up their mind)

One thing that is forgotton by many is the fact that Auntie, at the end of the day is not some liberal minded entity, she is aware that she should be a refection of the public and act only on their behalf and for their benefit.

Anyway, it is here.

Oh thanks Tiger for posting this. What an interesting debate to listen to.
Im ashamed to say I tend to agree a little with all sides of the discussion.

Its so good to know that only on the BBC you can have an "in-depth" debate such as this.
It makes me feel good about paying my licence fee each year and not feel grumpy about it.

Thank you once again.

I am so pleased that you listened Mel.

I, like you saw the validity in the arguments from all sides( still out on Michael Portillo!)

AND hope many others listen and realise that Auntie must never be booked into a retirement home. Her family love her and know without her the public would not have a voice in how our world is perceived.

Yes Tiger, an excellent listen, wish it could have gone on for longer than it's 45 mins.  I never knew the Inform, Educate and Entertain ideal was meant to be in that order too.
