Refugees from Woman's Hour in charge
« on: January 17, 2013, 08:26:24 AM »
I've listened to rado 4extra/radio 7 since inception. Never have I know so much dreary drama, tired unfunny comedy misplaced in peak hour slots and we' ve even been given extra Archers -  presumably for the soapies. Even the sci fi slot is misapplied, frequently being reduced to (unfunny) sci fi comedy

I can only assume that aficionados of the even drearier Woman'as Hour have been put in charge.

Call me a sexist mysogonist but educated BBC women have a very narrow focus that makes no allowance for male listeners.

Hi Keith, Im personally getting to really like Radio 4 Extra. Not being around the first time when these shows went out its good to hear them now.

Hancock and Round the Horne really makes me laugh, and some of the drama`s are really good. Its nice to have an extra choice on the radio .

Im enjoying at the moment a crime drama each lunchtime with Sharon Gless in the leading role, its really very good. As for the sci-fi, some of it is good.

I guess they cant please everyone.

Gosh, well, have had a look at the Radio4 Extra listings.

AND have to agree with Mel, there are some wonderful archived programs here.

AND, have to add they are mostly  male dominated.

Sorry Keith, have no idea, why you think women might be trying to take over? And I know many men who love to listen to Woman's Hour.

I think, actually the debate at the moment is that there is not a gender balance on R4.

Feedback on R4, covered this very issue this afternoon. By Roger Boulton, a true gentleman.

Actually , Keith, why not put your ideas here, for what you would like to listen to on R4 Extra.

It will be seen, and can be debated.
