It's Ladies Nights on Radio 1
« on: January 15, 2014, 09:26:07 PM »
BBC Radio 1 has announced an all-female line-up for one weekend in March to celebrate International Women's Day.

Says the headline, although sadly it's actually two nights?  Bit odd.  It's a Saturday, if you are going to do it why not do it properly?

Guess if they can only do half measures on International Womens Day, they won't be bothering getting in some Pirate DJ's for September the 19th?

It actually feels a bit weird that they are doing it all, actually ... as in, should it be that big a deal that they have all women one evening? I suppose it IS a big deal cos of their lack of women in the big slots. Since Jo Whiley left there have been no BIG female presenters who carry a bit of weight. (possible exception of Fearn.) I hate to say it but I think its not a matter of putting the women they have in the big spots, but in getting better women in!
